Blankets, Embroidery Design, Embroidered Blanket

Traditionally the hand woven blankets were richly embroidered to create an appeal. Usually they had a plain weave and were decorated with embroidery stitches. This style was a little less common than embroidery on quilts.

These days baby blankets are often embroidered with nursery themes. Even the personalised blankets are embroidered. The style followed is generally red embroidery (that can be done in other colors as well) and applique. Other styles may also be embroidered but are not very common. Applique as well as red work both were initially hand work but now even machine work can also be done.
