This report will provide you with information on six key actions any
business must take to increase lead generation and sales through Internet
marketing. If these tactics are implemented, a business will see a
dramatic increase in its Internet marketing results.
1) Call To Action: In reviewing hundreds of web sites, it was startling
to see how few of these sites used lead generation or contact forms on
each of their web site pages. Most web sites counted on people finding
the "contact" section on the web site navigation bar. When building a
web site, a good designer will place lead forms at the bottom of
virtually every page or include strategically-placed contact or purchase
"buttons" that urge prospects to click and take action. In order to
generate leads and sales, you have to direct prospects to DO something, and
you must communicate this call to action wherever possible.
2) Search Engine Pay-Per-Click: The most effective type of advertising
on the Internet, or for that matter the entire field of advertising, is
search engine pay-per-click (PPC) advertising. The leaders in this
area are Google and Yahoo. With PPC, you have advertising as a commodity,
not as a "hope and a prayer." You only pay for actual visitors who are
attracted by your PPC text ad, which they find on their search engine
results. Search engine PPC marketing does is a double-edged sword,
though. If you don't know how to correctly choose keywords and properly
set up a campaign, you may not generate a single click (which results in
no cost to you) or generate too many clicks from shoppers who are
interested, but which don't convert to sales (which results in enormous
cost to you).
3) Auto-Responders: One of the least appreciated and understood tools
in the Internet marketing world is the auto-responder. This is a tool
that allows you to send out a continuous stream of sales letters to your
prospects and clients. When you get a lead, it would normally be
entered into a database after the prospect has been called. However, not
everyone closes on the first call. The best way to stay in continuous
contact with all of your prospects is to send repetitive email sales letters
using an auto-responder.
4) Tracking Web Site Results: Many companies are not aware of the fact
that they can track every single person that comes to their web site.
There is analytic software available that can identify who comes to a
site, where they came from, how long they stay on a site, and which web
site pages a visitor likes or dislikes. This type of information is
invaluable in that it can be used to optimize a web site in order to get
the most value out of every visitor.
5) Use Focused Business Generation Sites: Many companies run Internet
campaigns that result in driving visitors to their web site's home
page. In many cases, this is a big mistake. Instead, Internet visitors
should be driven to the specific product page being promoted. Better yet,
a business should design and use a highly focused business or lead
generation page that promotes ONLY the item being targeted by the campaign.
6) Important Elements of a Landing Page: An effective landing page
announces quickly and clearly the advantages of taking immediate action. If
possible, it should offer immediate fulfillment in the form of a free
download, discount coupon, and so forth. A landing page should not
throw a volley of information at the visitor, but should provide details in
a simple, easy-to-understand manner. The page should have minimum
number of links, so that the visitor doesn't get distracted and move on to
other pages of your site and then exits. The form should ask for only
the minimum amount of mandatory contact information; the rest of the
fields (if any) should be left optional.
